Nobody knows the effects of vaping, silly sheep!

This was one of The Racial and Ethnic approaches of the CDC and Pasadena Public Health anti-smoking campaign.

Bilingual public awareness campaign unveiled last month by the Pasadena Public Health Department (PPHD) to help warn against the dangers of using menthol cigarettes, electronic vaping devices and tobacco-flavored products.Pasadena is unveiled a three-year anti-smoking campaign Wednesday, November 16, 2016. The campaign is funded in part by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Once again, another U.S. public health official is trying to trick the American People into thinking that vaping and smoking are one-in-the-same.  Otherwise, why would these ads focus entirely on vaping without even mentioning the real threat – smoked tobacco?

The Pasadena Health Department is using a $1.5 million anti-tobacco grant from the CDC to call vapers "stupid sheep". They stated these messages were sent from a little boy and adopted to be an important part of this campaign.

Pro-vaping advocate and Professor of Public Health at Boston University School Dr. Michael Siegel found the ad campaign particularly offensive.  In his daily blog, Siegel states that the Pasadena Health Department may be the true culprit “pulling the wool over people’s eyes.”

The rest of the story is that it is actually the Pasadena Health Department which is "pulling the wool" over people's eyes (if there is any sheep-like behavior going on) by equating vaping with smoking.

The campaign does nothing to enhance understanding or solve problems. The insulting aspect of this ad campaign will only create unnecessary animosity and further misunderstanding. This campaign is mean spirited, ignorant and a disservice to the interests of public health.
